Mental Health Awareness Week

Mental Health Awareness Week is the UK's national week to raise awareness of mental health and mental health problems and inspire action to promote the message of good mental health for all.

Mental Health Awareness Week has been run by the Mental Health Foundation since 2001. Raising awareness of mental health is vitally important in supporting everybody’s wellbeing and in these difficult times this is especially important now more than ever and what better theme to have than kindness! If there’s something we can all take from this situation, it is, I’m sure you’ll agree, that a sense of community has really helped us get through things together and kindness has been at the heart of this.

I hope you all managed to watch my Mental Health Awareness Week assembly that was uploaded on to the Google Classroom streams on Monday. This featured many of our staff showing acts of kindness and the 5-ways to wellbeing. The children were also given some wellbeing activities and all children have been asked to try to do an act of kindness each day this week – please do keep sending the photos and drawings in for this, they’re brilliant and I know that every act of kindness made somebody’s day that much brighter and happier!

Also, the kinder you are to others, the happier you’ll feel inside too.

Some of your acts of kindness and the 5-ways to wellbeing – thank you!

"My act of kindness was helping my baby brother with his new puzzle. He was struggling with it so I stopped what I was doing and helped him complete it and he said 'thank you Adem'. This made me smile."

"Writing letters and king things to my family. "

"I deliver shopping to people who can’t get to the shops themselves."

 Acts of kindness diary

"I water the garden everyday with my little brother and we’ve been closely monitoring the strawberries, and they are finally turning red!"
