Entertaining & unique stories in Year 2

In Year 2, the children have reached the end of their writing unit during which they wrote many entertaining and very unique stories about defeating a monster.

Their wonderful tales were based on and inspired by a picture book called The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch by David Armitage. It has been wonderful seeing their ideas develop over the course of 4 weeks. The Year 2 teachers have posted and shared these amazing pieces of writing on their Google Classroom streams so that the children are able to read and enjoy one another's tales. Here are a couple of examples of the children’s openings for you to have a look at. Can you spot any alliteration, similes, commas in a list and expanded noun phrases in their work?

We are extremely excited to begin our new writing unit which is related to our Learning Quest topic about Mary Seacole and Florence Nightingale!
