Michael Poulli- Never give up on your dreams!

One of our Year 5 pupils, Mikey, has been an inspiration to everyone at Grange Park as a shining example of someone who never gives up

no matter what changes may happen in life. Despite Mikey losing his sight, he has continued to pursue his dream of becoming a footballer and is part of Tottenham’s Centre of Excellence where he joined the visually impaired team. With adaptations to allow him to play safely, he flourished very quickly at the sport. The footballs that he trains with have ball bearings inside them to allow blind players to locate them on the pitch and he quickly adapted to this change in the way he played.

Mikey has even shared his dreams of becoming a professional footballer on Radio 5 Live and he is pictured here with radio and television presenter, Adrian Charles (see image below). Mikey spoke about his condition and the presenter agreed that he is an inspiration to us all for persevering when things get in tough.

We wanted to thank you Mikey for being such an inspiration to us all in being resilient and for reminding us the valuable life lesson of never giving up when things change or get tough.

This year has been challenging for us all so don’t forget what makes you happy and inspired in life and go for it, just like Mikey.

Comment from Mikey:

"I have been very lucky to have met some really special and inspiring people in the last 3 years.  Although I have lost my sight, that has never stopped me from doing what I want.  I can do what everyone else can,  I just need to make small adjustments to make it accessible. My mum and dad have always supported me and gave me the attitude to   never given up and that is in my heart… impossible is nothing!"
