The Gingerbread Man

Reception has had an excellent start to the new year.

They have shown resilience, perseverance and maturity. Taking on the challenge of home learning or coming to school and working alongside new children and adults in our bubble. We are so proud of them and we are sure that you will be too when you see their smiliey faces and wonderful work...

This term one of our Talk for Writing text is The Gingerbread Man. The children at home and at school have innovated this traditional tale by creating their own character.

For our PSHE/well-being lessons the children have been thinking about what makes them happy and writing lists.

Linked to this the children have been thinking about what they would like to get better at this year. Kaliyah said she would like to get better at swimming!

We have also been learning the number bonds to 5. Following on from our live lessons the children showed excellent understanding and represented the number bonds in a variety of ways, we are even beginning to write number sentences!

For understanding of the world this week the children have been building bridges both at home and at school. Using critical thinking skills and problems solving they have successfully built bridges, showing that they can persevere to meet their goal.

Paloma’s bridge meant that her toys could successfully cross to the other side of the river!
