Reception classes
Children begin Grange Park Primary School in September of the academic year they are five. We are able to offer 90 places in our reception classes ( 3 classes of 30 children ).
Parents/carers will need to complete an application form on which you may name up to three schools in order of preference. These forms can be obtained from the school office. Alternatively they may be obtained from the Civic Centre in Enfield.
The deputy headteacher, Mrs Cullen, will show prospective parents around the school on the first and third Thursday of the month at 11am. Please phone the school office to confirm your attendance. ( The only exception to this is the first and last weeks of term ).
The headteacher will show prospective parents round the school on Tuesday Tuesday 17th November 2009 commencing at 7pm and also the deputy head will show parents round at 11 am on Thursday 19th November 2009.
Completed forms must be handed in to the first choice school.
Allocating Places
Children with special needs who would benefit by being admitted to a particular school.
Children who have a brother or sister on roll at the school at the time of admission.
Distance from the child's permanent place of residence.
Starting the reception
Once a place has been allocated at Grange Park, reception parents are invited to an open evening in the summer term before their child starts school. There are further visits to a play session and a visit to a reception classroom.
All Reception admissions attend on a part-time basis for the first four weeks.
After this, children born before 31st March, start full-time. Those born after 31st March are part-time for some or all the Autumn term. Part time is 8.55am - 12.00.
All children are full-time from the Spring term.
Children are admitted over a period of three weeks in small numbers, twice a week. This helps the children to become familiar with the surroundings, their teacher and teaching assistant. Parents may come in with their child until he/she settles into the routine of school. The deputy headteacher is available each morning from 8.30am to answer any concerns.
Home Visits
Your child's teacher and the teaching assistant will come on a home visit, (with your agreement) in the first four weeks of the autumn term. We hope this will be the start of a real partnership between you and the school and that we can all work in your child's best interest.
Admission arrangement for the remainder of the school
Parents wishing to apply for a place in any other year except the reception classes should complete an admission application form. This can be obtained from the school office. You are also able to download the form from the school's web site. Once completed this should be handed in at the office. Your child's name will then be placed on waiting list. The school office will contact you in the event of a vacancy. Currently there is a waiting list for each year group.
